Imke van der Hooft

Imke (1989) started at Deloitte in 2011 as a working student during her studies at the University of Tilburg. She finished her Master’s degree (Accent Indirect Tax) end of 2014 and has been working as a fulltime VAT advisor since. Until mid-2022 Imke worked for this firm whereby the last years her focus areas were international trade, consumer business, e-commerce and mergers & acquisitions.

 

Jan Lamers

Jan (1965) studied at the University of Tilburg and started his career at the Dutch Tax Authorities as an indirect tax lawyer specialized in VAT. For over 15 years he worked on many different assignments, including chairman of a national taskforce for repressive control on tax evasion and fraud, lecturer at the internal training program for tax lawyers of the Ministry of Finance and tax inspector at the department Very Large Enterprises.

As of 2007, Jan has been working as a tax partner / VAT-RETT specialist for several tax advisory firms, among which Deloitte where he met Pascal. Jan has experience in various areas such as real estate, public sector, international trade and M&A.

In 2009/2010 he worked as a lecturer/scholar at the University of Tilburg, Accent Indirect Tax program. Jan is also author of many articles on VAT in prevalent magazines such as “Weekblad voor Fiscaal Recht”, “NTFR-Beschouwingen” and “BTW-brief”.

In 2020, Jan founded EigerTax together with Pascal.

Pascal Schrijver

After graduation at the University of Groningen, Pascal (1974) started his career at Arthur Andersen, at the time one of the Big Five global consultancy firms. In 2002 Andersen the Netherlands merged with Deloitte - another Big Four firm. Pascal worked with that firm – where he met Jan - until the end of 2019. Pascal finalized the Dutch Association of Tax Advisors (“NOB”) as well as the Dutch Bar Association (“NOvA”) educational programs. He also completed the course for Mediator at the ADR Institute. Pascal has mainly worked in – initially – the real estate practice, and later mainly in the Telecom, Media & Technology as well as M&A practices. He served as EMEA resp. Global Indirect Tax TMT leader within the firm for many years. During the final years at the firm, he also advised a foreign government on the introduction of VAT.

 

Pascal was promoted partner in the international indirect tax practice at Deloitte in 2011. Besides his client work, he was also responsible for Quality & Risk. Since 2006, Pascal has been teaching at Leiden University and he is a board member of the VAT section of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisors (“NOB”). Pascal is a co-author of a book on VAT and e-commerce and a frequent speaker at seminars.

Joyce Westerveld

Joyce (1982) studied tax law in Groningen. After graduating in 2004, she joined KPMG Meijburg & Co. In 2013 she made the switch to Deloitte, where she met Jan and Pascal. In 2016, Joyce joined a niche law firm in 's-Hertogenbosch, before setting up her own VAT consultancy practice in early 2022. In mid-2024, she joined forces with EigerTax.

Joyce is a member of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers (NOB). She is broadly trained as a VAT consultant and has extensive experience, from the public sector to the automotive industry. Recently, she has mainly focused on the analysis of (international) flows of goods and services, the VAT consequences of subsidies and similar contributions, and the scope of various exemptions, such as the exemptions in the public sector and the fund sector.

 

Joyce regularly publishes in VAT trade journals and also gives VAT trainings.
